Here it is in it's current state. Paint flaked off due to the hot tanking process.
The carb and the distributor are just for mock-up, as we will be getting new stuff.
Intake came out of a Z28, and IS ORIGINAL.
Also a shot of something that was donated some time ago,, 80's memorabilia...

Very nice! Intake must be a mid 70s unit. I've never seen one with the cylinder numbers cast on the runners. It's. GM piece with the snowflake. They flow really well I have a early 69 over the counter intake on my 327

Are you going roller cam or keep it flat?

Keeping it flat. This is just a school project, mind you.

That is a winters foundry 71-72 LT1 intake.

Even if it wasn't, if it's a non roller block that's a lot of $ to retrofit.

is the oil fill hole in the intake open or cast closed? Im doing research on when Chevy started closing that off since 67 was the last year it was really needed.

I can't tell from the pics. I think they started filling it in late '70 or early '71. Casting and cyl numbers tell me it's at least a '71 so it's probably filled.

probably right. The over the counter units started having the hole filler in 70. They early punched out ones are getting hard to find. I love the one on my 68 camaro. Going to swap my edelbrock for a Z28 correct 4053 Holley

That's a great looking engine bay. Got the driver's side alternator like a real '68 should!
Do something about the engine's identity crisis though :)

lol, those are 350 horsepower decals on the valve cover. I'm actually pulling the motor in a couple weeks to replace a few leaky seals and repaint it. Then doing a complete and correct looking 302 top end. Even got the correct double alt bracket on the drivers side.
